Laminate, which is a composite of high-density fiberboards pressed together, consists of 99% wood byproducts. A clear, UV-resistant layer covers everything as a sealant.

While laminate is almost all derived from wood, vinyl is 100% synthetic. Layers of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), plasticizers, and other additives come together to form vinyl. Vinyl is available in sheet form or as sturdier luxury vinyl plank flooring (LVP) or tile (LVT).

Red granite actually is very similar to pink granite in that it also has potassium feldspar. This is what gives it the red color you see, but just a bit darker to give more of a contrast in your kitchen.

This isn’t the only type of red granite available, though. You can also get red granite when there’s iron oxide in hematite grains or an inclusion in the feldspar. As a result, the granite takes on a gorgeous rusty red color with specks of white and beige in it.

PRESSBOARD OR PLYWOOD

When choosing new kitchen cabinets, you should consider the cabinet materials. In general, cabinet boxes are made of pressboard or plywood. Neither is a superior material; it is often based on your preference. How do you know which is best for your kitchen?

PRESSBOARD CABINETS

Pressboard is the cheapest cabinet material option. The low price point is its most attractive feature. Pressboard is made by adhering wood chips together with glue and covering it with a veneer. The material is more sensitive to moisture and less durable.

PLYWOOD CABINETS

A more durable option than pressboard, plywood is made from multiple layers of compressed and veneered wood. This material is more water-resistant and stands up well to heavy use. Plywood is also much easier to assemble and install. However, it is a more expensive option than pressboard.
